Mushy peas?
I have a friend from England who has often spoken of "mushy peas." Sounds pretty yucky to me, but look at this! A website dedicated to them! Who knew?

I went to college in the north of England and mushy peas were a staple for lunch at the local pub. Steak and kidney pie with mushy peas....fish and chips with mushy peas. You have to say it with a north English accent..."mooshy peas"

The whole idea reminds me of bay food — as I recall, peas were not my favorites.
Mushy peas are delicious although they might not look very appetizing!!! To appreciate that speciality you have to like lentils or beans....
